Cultural institutions in the semantic Web: considerations about <em>Linked data per biblioteche, archivi e musei</em> by Mauro Guerrini and Tiziana Possemato

Abstract

This paper – starting from the book Linked data for libraries, archives and museums (Mauro Guerrini and Tiziana Possemato, 2015) – discusses how cultural institutions, such as libraries, archives and museums, could benefit from the semantic Web, and how they could contribute to the Web community. The book presents linked data basic principles, suggesting standards, technologies and languages for their creation and management. Describing their life cycle, as well as the main national and international projects, it enables the reader to understand what linked data are, and to figure out some critical issues related to their production, publication and use.
