culture, information, role of librariesAbstract
In the first part, the article analyses relationships and differences between ‘culture’ and ‘information’ from a neurological and cognitive point of view. In the second part, the author reflects on the role of libraries as archives of human intellectual and spiritual creation and as a bridge between past and present culture, which for centuries has been represented by libraries’ collections. Today, however, expanded by the concept of ‘science’, culture has lost its traditional connotations, to the point that both its configuration and its future have entered into an identity crisis.
