The essay examines the existing literature on the topic of writers’ archives and libraries, dwelling upon theoretical issues as well as on management models and practical matters.
What do we mean by writers’ libraries? What are the main bibliographic and archival issues regarding writers’ archives and libraries? What’s the relationship between books and documents, libraries and archives, and how can librarians, archivists and scholars work together? Why is it still important to acquire private libraries and archives? How can the place of destination (locus) affect the writers’ libraries fortune? The paper answers to all these questions.
