Abstract

The number of partnerships between Wikipedia and libraries is constantly increasing in quantity and quality, both at the national and global level. Phoebe Ayers, long-time wikipedian and librarian at MIT, reflects upon the encounter of these different and diverse communities, on the obstacles they face and the opportunities they have yet to take.

Author Biographies

Phoebe Ayers, MIT Libraries

Phoebe Ayers is a librarian at MIT, where she specializes in electrical engineering and computer science. Prior to that she was a science and engineering librarian at the University of California Davis. She served four years on the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, which runs Wikipedia and its sister projects. She is the co-author of a book about Wikipedia, and is a long-time member of the project's community.

Andrea Zanni è bibliotecario digitale, responsabile del progetto openMLOL. Lavora per Horizons Unlimited, e ha lavorato per AlmaDL (Università di Bologna). È stato presidente dell'associazione Wikimedia Italia.
