Abstract

This article presents and comments the book A partire dallo spazio: osservare, pensare, interpretare la biblioteca, edited by Maurizio Vivarelli (Milano: Ledizioni, 2016). Moreover, it takes inspiration from other readings to address some specific points: the paradigm shifts in library space design, the application of Foucault’s archaeological method to the study of libraries, the relationship between social issues and managerial issues in library and information science, the use of Habermas public sphere notion in public libraries, the topicality of Jesse H. Shera and the interest of library and information science in social epistemology.
