The article presents the results of a survey on the agreement between Spanish universities and their libraries on the subject of ‘university social responsibility’ (USR). The analysis was conducted with qualitative and quantitative methods and focused on the institutional websites of Spanish universities and their libraries. It highlighted how only few Spanish university libraries have implemented USR policies and, where this has happened, there is also a link with the USR policies of the institutions to which they belong. Even when they apply USR policies, in the majority of cases university libraries do not carry out a preliminary planning of their own USR activities. On the contrary, they implement isolated measures that are in line with the plan promoted by their university. Furthermore, for the purpose of implementing the USR, university libraries show that they pay attention to the guidelines proposed at national level by the Red de Bibliotecas Universitarias Españolas (Rebiun).
