The history of the web can currently be divided into three phases: Web1, from its origins to the beginning of the third millennium, made up of e-mails and static websites, just to be seen; Web2, made of blogs, social networks and smartphones, namely a web of platforms that were welcoming to users and made them aware of communication; Web3, the current one, characterized by the ‘metaverse’ and blockchain. The author’s reflection focuses on the physiognomy of this last phase and on the crucial role that libraries can play in the education of society.
