Abstract

This paper explores some of the topics dealt with in Giovanni Solimine’s scientific works, starting from the volume Percorsi e luoghi della conoscenza. Dialogando con Giovanni Solimine su biblioteche, lettura e società, edited by Giovanni Di Domenico, Giovanni Paoloni and Alberto Petrucciani (Bibliografica, 2016). The book's contents are analyzed under two different perspectives, both of them aimed at delving into the role of Library science today. Nowadays this discipline not only has the task of designing and identifying the best tools for managing different types of libraries, but also needs to make libraries acknowledged by the whole society.
