Abstract

The International research conference “What happened in the library? Readers and libraries from historical investigations to current issues”, held on 27th and 28th September 2018 at the University of Rome Sapienza, bringing as witnesses original researches, has focused the need to integrate study disciplines – from book history to library history – to understand the social role that libraries have played, not just for training and cultural growth, but also for the personal growth of many ordinary readers and many intellectuals.
