Abstract

The International research conference “What happened in the library? Readers and libraries from historical investigations to current issues”, held on 27^th and 28^th September 2018 at the University of Rome Sapienza, bringing as witnesses original researches, has focused the need to integrate study disciplines – from book history to library history – to understand the social role that libraries have played, not just for training and cultural growth, but also for the personal growth of many ordinary readers and many intellectuals.
