The contribution focuses on the book Leggere in biblioteca by Giovanni Solimine (Editrice Bibliografica, 2024), presenting both the methodological approach adopted by the author in his investigation and the main findings that emerged from the specific research trajectories explored. These include the characteristics of library collections, reading groups and selected books, the use of library collections, as well as the transformations brought about by the digital revolution and digital lending. Solimine’s book provides an unprecedented national-level overview of these issues, based on the analysis of a vast amount of data contextualized within broader scenarios. Leggere in biblioteca also offers multiple insights into fundamental issues for those involved in libraries and library science and can serve as a stimulus for further research.
